WESTERN CORFU
Ermones -Pelekas – Sinarades -Agios Gordis
A short route of special beauty through green scenery and traditional-style villages with views of hills, craggy cliffs and the sea. This is also the part of Corfu with the best beaches. The outstanding villages are Pelekas, Sinarades and Ano Garouna, known for its stone-masons.
PELEKAS
The place from which to watch the glorious sunset from the top of the hill where Kaiser Wilhelm II had his observatory.
SINARADES
A village with delightful alleys and tiled roofs. Note the 15th c. Venetian church belfry and visit the interesting Folk Art and Historical Museum to see exhibits of local costumes, tools, a cobbler’s workplace, the model of a fishing craft called papyrella and a reproduction of the interior of a typical vil‐ lage dwelling of central Corfu.
